A vast and diverse city on the northeastern coast of Spain, Barcelona is sited in the scenic Catalonia region. With a population of around 1.5 million people, Barcelona is a bustling city and offers an impressive coastal location, standing alongside the Mediterranean Sea.

Divided into a number of regions, noteworthy areas of Barcelona include Las Ramblas, which starts opposite the harbour at the Plaça Portal de la Pau and stretches northwards to the Plaça de Catalunya. Full of shops, bars and restaurants, Barcelona's Las Ramblas is lined with trees and features many friendly street artists.

To the north of Las Ramblas you will find the expansive district of El Ravel to the left, and the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona to the right. Beyond the Gothic Quarter stands La Ribera, home to Barcelona's Chinese Quarter and also the fashionable area of El Born, part of the Old City. Also worth noting, the suburban district of Gràcia is known throughout Barcelona for its quirky bars and selection of international eateries, being connected to central Barcelona by a range of public transport.
